This school year might look and feel different, but the one thing that remains a constant..... kids LOVE art!! We started the year with "The Dot" by Peter Reynolds, followed by "When A Line Bends A Shape Begins", a book about seeing shapes everywhere. We took what we learned from "The Dot" and "When A Line Bends..." and created Pattern "Rugs" where we created colorful patterns and added a construction paper "fringe" at the top and bottom.
First Graders learned about being unique from stories like "Only One You", and "What I Like About Me" by creating their own fish and self portraits that show their "special" features. First Graders are also learning to "include" others by reading "Elmer's Special Day" and creating their own patchwork elephant.
