April & May 2018 The months of April and May was chock full of fun art projects. Capped off, of course, with our Art Show where students brimmed with pride in showing their families what wonderful pieces they have selected. Prior to the art show, we were introduced to Pablo Picasso and the Cubist movement. We looked at how he "re-arranged" faces to make them look super interesting and unique. We responded by making our own "Cubist style" faces using cardboard, tempera paint and glue. We also embraced the feeling of spring and, as a community, created our own Truffula trees inspired by the Lorax. After the art show, we began printmaking. We discussed the process and how it is about the right amount of ink and that it is PRACTICE. Students made about 3-4 prints and began the quest of "mastery" by practicing.
