Observational drawing is the art of "LOOKING". Artists, historically, have used a "still life" to practice this art. In our case, we used a bowl of fruit (apples, pear and grapes). These young artists learned how to simplify their drawings by starting with the largest object (the basket) and placing the fruits in the right places by creating four equal "sections" using a dotted line. Once placed, the students looked closely at the fruits and drew what they saw. They, then, included texture and shading. Wonderful job!!!
