November 2017 From Rainbow Fish to Bowls Of Fruit, these young artists showed creativity, imagination and a keen eye for detail. First, we started with "Rainbow Fish", a story about sharing. The students created their own fish using crayons and texture sheets. At the end, they were given a shimmering scale. Because we talked about texture in that project and how things "feel", we moved on to drawing texture and answering the question "How do Artists create different textures?" We worked on the "art of looking" or observational drawing using found objects like a ball of yarn, pine cone or corn. Then we moved on to a "still life" that was a basket of fruit that had different textures and different sizes. In the next month, we will looking at ourselves in the mirror to create self portraits.
